Care at NURSING HOMES

Most families and couples make every effort to receive and provide long term care at a personal residence "at home".  And for the majority of families this approach to care will be required simply due to the very high cost of care homes and nursing facilities.

For many families there comes a time when all of the best efforts at home are simply not practical anymore and the services of a professional Nursing Home are required.  Making that choice is making a decision that is not right for everyone - but still needs to be made. Children feel guilt over placing a loved parent or family member in a home, the individual moving into the home can sometimes feel unwanted and pushed out and for everyone the cost of the care in absence of adequate Long Term Care insurance, place sever strain on budgets.

When Home Won't Work

This publication takes a frank look at the process of making this choice and Met Life's Making the Nursing Home Choice provides useful checklists and guides to help evaluate and select a facility.
