Living Options for Seniors and others
Deciding the "right" place for a loved to live is not an easy task. No one seems to be able to agree on a course of action. Indeed, no decision will ever be the "right" decision for someone! But decisions do have to be made and the primary considerations usually are:
1. cost
2. location
3. staffing and/or safetyFinding the right solution requires looking at options and determining which option meets the majority of everyone's needs; your loved one, yours, and your family. Find out more about options below.
A simplified ladder of options:

Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
Skilled Nursing Facilities are the highest level of care facilities. These often have both long-term custodial care patients and rehabilitation care patients in the same area. Long Term care is considered maintenance care while rehabilitation care is usually for a limited time and focused on helping a patient learn a skill or regain an ability that will allow him or her to return to other living situations. These facilities operate on a hospital-like basis and are often connected to a medical facility. These facilities must be licensed by the State and have requirements much like a hospital.
